The current status of "X-Men 4"
Denofgeeks.com has compiled a detailed list of upcoming movie sequels, including "X-Men 4." In the block quotes below is the aforementioned film's current prospects:
Developmental hell hasn't completely settled in, so that's good. Speaking of "First Class," I'll throw this in for anyone interested:
As a fun mental exercise in the meantime, feel free to devise logical plot devices for a fourth movie Cyclops revival. I should note I haven't seen "Last Stand," though, I do know it killed the character off early. Once I've seen "Last Stand," I'll write an entry more in depth about the subject. Until then, have at it.
While most of the emphasis is on the other facets of the X-Men franchise thus far, with First Class, The Wolverine and Deadpool in the fire, there are still plans afoot for a full-on X-Men 4.Link: http://www.denofgeek.com/movies/866031/95_movie_sequels_currently_in_the_works.html
Some story work has been done on the film, but at best, it’s third in the queue in the current slate of X-Men projects. Thus, don’t expect it soon, but don’t write off the chances of it happening, either.

There’s a confidence surrounding the promotion of X-Men: First Class as this piece is being written, and talk has already turned to a possible follow-up.Movie-wise, it should be a most interesting few years for X-Men fans.
Director Matthew Vaughn may yet be interested in having another crack at the X-Men franchise, too, with the plan being talked about to move the next movie onto the 70s.
Sounds like it might be fun, but obviously, Fox will want to see how First Class does before committing one way or the other.

Maybe Jean or Poccy can resurrect him? Poccy could, as wasn't Scott a member of the Twelve in the books?

I just want another movie with Rogue and Cyclops in it... heh^^

I've always been mixed, as I was never crazy on the "IN SPACE" concept. However, the movies, at least, could try to make it as realistic as possible. (And, at this point, it's more believable, now that the movie universe is established.)

And I'm not the biggest Jean supporter, but even I was angry that they changed it that much. Plus the fact I can't get over Scott's "death" - that doesn't help them.
Hell they did in space things in the 70s with Star Wars so they COULD indeed do Starjammers and have it work (and it'll look even better with graphics being improved in this day&age.), but I'm not sure the [x-men] movie universe is quite ready for being in space with aliens and such... it seems a bit of a stretch as much as I'd like to see Scott's dad. Maybe a Apolocopyse-related film or maybe Bishop or any other number of storylines they could do. A Sentinal war kind of thing would be prefered as well...
As long as they re-establish Scott being alive and well in the movie!verse, I'd be happy.

It's more, yes, they could do the space setting, but I didn't want things to be fantastic than they already are, anyway. (Until recently, the Marvel universe was supposed to be based in reality. Although, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four pushed the setting to its limit, which is fine.) I'm not sure if the Starjammers arc could have worked in movie 3, but movie 4 and onward, yeah, sure. (Then again, it was hard to top X-2, so.)
Yeah, I'd focus on Poccy or the Sentinels, beforehand. Probably the latter, as they were established in canon, first, and the movies set up enough, via Stryker, to go there. Give it time, as the X-Men universe is quite expansive.
