I'm not sure what sort of Japanese animation you are familiar with, asides from Pokemon ^_^;; they have a great diversity of quality and styles, and your average lowgrade action show for a young boys demographic like Pokemon isn't really the best example of what they can do. I'm a very regular watcher of anime; so when I criticised the x-men anime it's with that background in mind.
as most writers on either side of the Pacific aren't exactly military tacticians? err, I mean stuff that shows up in comics, in terms of the team member cooperating, depending on their power, in order to be efficient? In the anime they seem to be preventing one another from fully acting more than the opposite.
