This week marks the release of Marvel's "X-Men '92" digital comic series. For those who enjoyed the 92 series (myself included), it's certainly worth a look. The first link below contains an interview with co-writers, Chad Bowers and Chris Sims, detailing their plans with the new series. The second one is your obligatory preview.

http://www.galacticnewsone.com/2015/05/marvel-comics-x-men-92-1-preview.html

If nothing else, it may be the only current source of potential Comic Cyclops/Rogue interaction until Marvel's Secret Wars 2015 is sorted out. Beggars can't be choosers, at least for the time being.

Update: Series will be re-launched as a full ongoing, next Spring:

So I've been working on List of Marvel Universes on Fanlore (so that it's not just Alternate Avengers universes but also X-Men's and Spider-Man's), and I just added Professor W's X-Men to the list and when I was looking for more information (I knew Nocturne came from this reality but not much else) - I saw that Rogue was on Cyclops team, and that just made me really happy lol.

And really in the mood for some fics that have them on Bad/Evil team.

Has anyone actually read these "Professor W's" comics? Was there any scenes between Scott and Rogue?

So I'm currently working on adding X-Men information at FANLORE.org, and when I was starting Rogue's page, I went to check Wikipedia's page for her, and something made me look into the Other Versions of her, and look what I found:

"In Ultimate X-Men #80, Cyclops disbands the X-Men following Xavier's death. Rogue stays with Iceman at the Xavier Institute as a student. Xavier later returns and reveals himself to be alive. Rogue once again becomes an X-Man. At the end of Ultimate X-Men, a Banshee-enhanced Rogue is seen to be a member of Colossus' team. Her appearance heavily altered, it seems her abilities have been enhanced such that she can call on absorbed abilities, as she has Colossus' armored flesh and Angel's feathered wings extending from her arms. While telling Cyclops the benefits of Banshee she kisses him; when asked why, she replies "'Cause I can." (Ultimate X-Men #95)"

So this makes me want to read the Ultimate X-Men... like really badly. Even though this seems like a one time thing - never to be seen again. I can't even find any pictures of it so who knows if it actually happened (you know you can't trust Wiki 100%), so if anyone who has read the series can confirm this, this would be amazing news. IF it is, I'm totally going to try and find this issue at my local comic book store... Or just buy it off marvel.com.

Why is it that Marvel won't give this couple a chance? I have to scratch my head, because when you look at the amazing chemistry that Scott and Rogue had in X-Men Evolution, it just opens up a huge world of possiblities. Scott and Rogue have the most potential in my opinion, I mean, when you look at their struggles, they're the same. When you look at them, you can see something happen between them.

I think that Scott and Rogue could be soulmate material, they just need their chance.

I mean, this couple is probably the rarest X-Men couple I know, so it's really hard to find anything for them, so I'm rather pleased that at the end of X-Men Evolution where Rogue lands next to Scott was something deliberate. Scott and Rogue, when they are with each other, they feel freedom to be themselves.

They are sensitive souls, and sensitive souls need to be taken care of. Scott and Rogue could very well heal each other, and protect each other from further harm.

I would buy a Scogue book series in a hearbeat if Marvel actually did this!

A few weeks ago, Marvel editor Tom Brevoort stated on his Formspring page that Marvel will be producing fewer mini-series (or limited series, to use the official term) in the near future:
We’ve been saying for months now that we’re going to be putting out fewer limited series, and instead focusing on our core monthly titles in response to where the marketplace seems to be right now. That’s what we’re doing. And that means that some projects that were initiated earlier are going to fall by the wayside. But at least among the best of those in terms of ideas, there’s nothing saying that we can’t revisit them later if conditions change.

All of which will directly impact the X-Men, including our favorite pair, Cyclops and Rogue. Both characters have been featured prominently in respective mini-series throughout the past two decades.* The new direction is understandable, per the company's current troubles (e.g., multiple layoffs in October). Of course, as Brevoort had said, it can always revive the concept, once "conditions change."

The entry is to serve as an Open Discussion. While I do have my opinion and will chime in, I am curious to what the other members think. Feel free to discuss the subject matter, the lack of proper Cyclops/Rogue mini-series team-ups, etc. As always, time will tell if Marvel's latest edict becomes permanent or not.

*Personally speaking, I discovered belatedly that Cyclops has a new one for 2011. I'll post on such, along with a spotlight of his previous limited series fare, in a future entry. The same will be applied to Rogue and her batch, as well. However, I have no idea when either entry will be posted, for I need to do considerable research beforehand -- I haven't been paying attention to modern-day Marvel until recently. Once I do, I'll inform and update accordingly.

Nota bene/Update: It is necessary to point out that the entry was supposed to be posted some time ago. Unfortunately, I kept receiving a "Client error: Maximum queued posts for this community+poster combination reached" message. I later deduced that the issue might be the link itself, given past experiences on other comms. In which case, I took a chance by spacing it out when I first posted. (I then was able to revise it to its original form afterwards.)

This Nota bene is for future reference, in case anyone else has had similar problems. Naturally, any umbrage should be directed at Livejournal's current coding practices, and not the comm's. (The error also depends on the link as presented -- some work perfectly, while some simply do not.) To be on the safe side, expect similar link re-edits from my future entries until Livejournal ultimately corrects the matter.

Sorta spoilery if you don't read the comics, or at least that issue. Although as a Scogue fan, you will enjoy this little news even if you aren't a comics fan.

In light of "Uncanny X-Men"'s impending cancellation, Marvel will soon be splitting the series into two new titles. The first title will be a "Uncanny" reboot/renumbering and the second title will be "Wolverine & The X-Men." (X-Men fans, of course, will recall the latter sharing the title with the long-canceled Nicktoons animated series.) For Cyclops' fans, he'll be in the "Uncanny" title, since Wolverine will obviously be in the other title. Time and future updates will tell on the rest. Details within link. Special thanks to the Four Color Media Monitor.

Apparently, Marvel's long-running "Uncanny X-Men" title is now canceled, the final issue being # 544. The Associated Press, via USA Today, explores the matter and Cyclops' rather expansive role in recent story arcs within. (For obvious reasons, beware comic spoilers.) Time will tell if Marvel will end up rebooting and re-numbering the series, as it was done with Spider-Man, Thor and others. (Ironically or not, they were eventually returned to their original series numbers in the past several years.)

I'll leave the matter open for everyone else to figure, while I go and form my own thoughts. Nevertheless, it is a regrettable loss. Special thanks to the Four Color Media Monitor blog.

For anyone interested for any Scott/Rogue interaction in the modern books, I recently came upon the "X-Men Legacy: Emplate" Trade Paperback. It covers "X-Men Legacy Annual #1" through Legacy issues #228-230, the arc entitled "The Devil at the Crossroads." It was released in around 2009-2010, so access shouldn't be a problem. For spoilers' sake, including the Scott/Rogue aspects, I'll insert the tidbits in a cut. Either way, Scott/Rogue fans/shippers should definitely give it a read, or two.

Apparently, Marvel is going to have Wolverine as a vampire for a new storyline, "Curse of the Mutants." Yup. The link has the essential analysis you need, so let's go with that. Special thanks to the Four Color Media Monitor.

Link: http://techland.com/2010/07/15/how-did-marvel-lose-control-of-wolverine/

As a far more amusing side topic for this comm, it would be quite easy to envision Cyclops and Rogue as vampire hunters, wouldn't it? With X-Men Evo Rogue, the look wouldn't be difficult to pull off, either. As always, you make the call.

I heard about Kevin Bacon's casting to the upcoming "X-Men: First Class" movie, yesterday, so it got me curious to what you all think of the concept. And there is still no young Scott yet cast. (Pity.)

Wikipedia doesn't give a bad summary, for those interested:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-Men_(film_series)#X-Men:_First_Class

And it was based on a 2006 comic mini-series, which I didn't know about:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-Men:_First_Class

I haven't yet formed an opinion, so feel free to persuade me, either way. As always, you make the call.
